Trust Me

26 Oct

Today I am joining Lisa-Jo and friends for Five Minute Friday.

This is where we come together writing for 5 minutes without editing or overthinking.
I love this community.

Check out what everyone’s is sharing on the word VOICE here.

Five Minute Friday

My voice started out so small. Fighting the tears that were right at the edge.
Could I share this part of me?
Would anyone even understand?
It would mean me taking off the mask that I had worked so hard to get into place.
I would have to let down my guard and let these women in.
What if that part of me changed the way they felt about me?
Could I handle the rejection?
All these thoughts running through my head. I had to do it. I had to step out so that they could too. I couldn’t ask them to share their lives if I wasn’t willing to do the same.

I had to trust to be trusted.
So I fought the fear and trusted His voice that was saying…trust me.

I cleared my throat and started again.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,

and he will show you which path to take.
Proverbs 3:5-6

Well said! It's so very difficult to take off the mask in front of other women and truly put your heart out there. It can be a blessing!

  12. Lori October 26, 2012 at 1:21 pm #

Removing that mask is terribly difficult! I know…I'm there now…Thank you so much for sharing!

This sentence is so me! "It would mean me taking off the mask that I had worked so hard to get into place.” So worth it though. Love this!

This is very brave. Putting away the mask. Vulnerability can be scary but necessary, as you point out here, to establish trust. Great post!

Simply powerfully Beautiful! Let the masks fall… be brave – the reward is a truer you – and a larger heart that beats for Him… and for them! (and that, my friend, you already possess!)

So many ideas came to mind while reading your post, Wendy. I'll just keep it short and post one: why do we so often question and second our voice and revealing our voice, when it's the most accurate portrayal of who we are? Like you said, if we want others to reveal theirs, we have to take that step too.Blessings to you 🙂

  41. Wendy October 30, 2012 at 10:15 pm #

  47. Wendy October 30, 2012 at 10:20 pm #

I can only tell you that for me I listened way too much to what others said to me which has silenced my voice for way too long. I learned to hide in the silence. God is doing a work in me about that a lot lately and I am just so thankful for His grace. Blessings friend!
